The Major Chronic Diseases of Americans May be Related to Poor Quality Nutrition
Research conducted during the last three decades has made it clear that many of the major chronic diseases of Americans may be nutrition-related health problems. In deed, four of the ten leading causes of death are associated with diet and nutrition: heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes. Dietary imbalances also contribute to other health problems such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, osteoporosis and obesity.
Proper nutrition is essential in reducing our risk of disease. But how do we know if we are meeting our nutrient needs? The complete Nutritional Foundation For Promoting Optimal Health/ Nutritional care is now an integral part of the total care of our patients. We recommend a high-quality multiple vitamin/mineral supplement, which we consider to be fundamental for the optimal nutrition of our patients. It should contain not just RDA levels but optimum levels of essential nutrients in a scientifically balanced formula. These nutrients should be supplied in highly absorbable forms, in fast-release tablets. They should also be free of preservatives and synthetic binders, lubricants, fillers and coloring agents. You invest in insurance for your car to protect yourself against financial loss, and wisely so. But do you do the same for your health? A high-quality multiple vitamin/mineral supplement, along with a good diet, is the lowest cost health insurance you can buy.

Remember, good nutrition can positively affect your health:
· It may help reduce the risk of disease.
· It is one of the therapeutic measures employed to help treat disease.

It is certainly true that no supplement can be used as a substitute for a good diet. But the fact is, a good diet isn't always enough. A high-quality multiple vitamin/mineral formula will help you build a nutritional foundation for optimal health.

Can I Stop Taking My Supplements When I Start to Feel Better?
Diet and nutritional supplements are important tools in our effort to achieve optimal health. But if we stop our nutritional program when our symptoms are improved, we risk starting the nutrient deficiency cycle all over again and missing out on the benefits that may be achieved. We will be happy to suggest when to change your nutrient program, and what you will need to help maintain your health.

Recommendations for Promoting Optimal Health:

  1. Reduce the amount of fat you eat and eliminate junk food.
  2. Increase your consumption of fiber and whole, fresh foods.
  3. Take a high-quality, balanced multiple vitamin/mineral supplement.
  4. Engage in some type of regular exercise
  5. Reduce common stressors.

Strength Training

As we age, the strength of our tissues tends to decline. Not just our muscles, but our tendons, bones and other connective tissues also lose strength. This can leave us frail, unstable on our feet, and susceptible to fractures. Most physical activity helps to maintain the strength of our tissues but strength training is a particularly effective way of building our muscles, tendons, and bones so our bodies remain strong for a lifetime.

Strength Training and Fat Loss
Strength training can provide your body with a very good working-out which can burn significant calories that can help you to lose those excess pounds of fat. However, not only does strength training burn fat while you are training but it also leads to increased muscle tissue in your body that will allow you to burn more calories even when you are sitting on the couch. This is because the more muscle tissue that is in your body, the more energy your body burns, even when you are not working out.

Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is excessive loss of bone density. It causes 1.5 million fractures including 250,000 hip fractures per year. Recovery from hip fracture is of particular concern with elderly individuals as 15-20% of osteoporosis patients who sustain a hip fracture die within one year. Maintaining a healthy bone mass is integral to ensuring a healthy long life. Physical activity appears to play an important role in the development of appropriate bone mass during childhood and in the maintenance of the bone mass throughout adulthood. Certain studies have shown strength training to be particularly effective at stimulating new bone development. Physical activity and muscle strengthening also appear to reduce the risk of falling and fractures among the elderly, probably by increasing muscle strength and balance. What are you doing to maintain your strength?

The Midlife Challenge
Menopause is normal and natural. It is your body changing and maturing. But unfortunately, it is perceived by many women only as an ominous midlife challenge. There is a common misconception that "the change" begins a time of inevitable and prolonged discomfort and declining quality of life.
The reality is that menopause only marks the end of your childbearing years. You are entering a phase of life when you body's energy shifts from a monthly preoccupation with possible childbirth to maintaining a steady state of energy focused on supporting you alone. In a healthy state there should be plenty of energy available to support an active, productive, and inspired life.

We Are Here To Help
Our goal is to help your body effectively manage a smooth and natural hormone transition while it supports the function of key organs. We want to assist you through the midlife challenge by applying a clear understanding of the dynamic relationship between nutrition, lifestyle, and female hormones. Our nutritional program focus is uniquely feminine. It's scientific, yet natural. It's rational. It's functional. And it's safe. The practical application of this knowledge will help you look and feel your best. Remember, we are here to help you, so please do not…….

How Are You Affected?
Are you currently enjoying the kind of life you should be? Is it as active, productive, and inspired as it should be? Is your body managing this time of hormonal and functional transition as well as it could be? If not, perhaps we can help.

Nutrition and Menopause
Supporting the body in its ability to manage a smooth hormonal transition and to replenish its energy reserves is important to a continuously active lifestyle. In harmony with that goal, there are select foods, vitamins, minerals, and special nutritional factors concentrated from food that can be taken. Additionally, nature provides profoundly nourishing herbs that support a woman's health and hormone balance during this period of hormone decline. These herbs fall into three categories
1. plants that possess phytoestrogens, sometimes referred to as "weak estrogens"
2. herbs traditionally used to support liver function; and
3. plants traditionally used to support blood and its circulation - the "road" that hormones must travel to reach the reproductive tissues where they support moisture and lubrication.

A Unique Feminine Nutrition Program Just For You
We would be happy to develop a program for you that combines modern nutritional science and the wisdom of traditional herbalists with proper dietary and lifestyle recommendations. The program would provide nutritional components of excellent quality that are intelligently combined, delicately prepared, and consistent with a natural approach that focuses on supporting the whole body and the way it naturally manages hormones. We are here to help, so please do not hesitate to ask for more information.
